LAX to Begin Overnight Lane Closures for Pedestrian Bridge Demolition Starting Tonight

iSpyVNY - January 6, 2025

Los Angeles, CA — Starting tonight, LAX will begin demolishing the pedestrian bridge between Terminal 5 and Parking Structure 5, which will result in overnight lane closures and shuttle reroutes through early January. The airport operator says the closures are part of the ongoing Terminal 5 Renovation & Reconstruction Project.

On the Arrivals level, from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly from January 6 through January 11, all outer lanes near the pedestrian bridge will be closed, with traffic detoured to inner lanes. Several shuttle stops, including the LAX-it and rental car shuttle stops, will be temporarily closed, and signage will direct passengers to alternative stops. The entrance to Parking Structure 6 from World Way South will also be closed, with drivers directed to use the Lower West Way entrance to access P-6.

On the Departures level, from 11:59 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly from January 7 through January 9, all lanes near the pedestrian bridge will be closed, and traffic will be rerouted via Upper West and Upper East Ways. The entrances to Parking Structures 2B and 5 from Upper West Way will be closed, but other access points will remain open. Charter and FlyAway buses will be rerouted to the Arrivals level, where signage will direct passengers to new boarding locations.

LAWA advises travelers to follow posted detour signs and allow extra time for possible delays.
